Q: FROM LOCAL STATIONS PLAYING YOUR MUSIC, TO AN ENTIRE REGION OF PEOPLE KNOWING YOUR NAME AND SUPPORTING YOUR CAREER. HOW HAS IT BEEN FOR YOU TO SEE YOUR GROWTH RAGE IN ABUNDANCE OVER THE YEARS?
Man, it’s been beautiful. Something you really don’t expect ya know! When you start off making music you don’t know who’s going to accept you; and then enough to follow or support you. So I’m truly blessed and thankful for that!
Q: YOUR ENTIRE CAREER, PEOPLE HAVE GIVEN YOU THE NICHE OF SOUNDING LIKE TANK. AS IT IS A COOL ATTRIBUTE, THERE IS ONLY ONE MIKE REEVES. ASIDE FROM YOUR PEERLESS HUNGER AND DRIVE, WHAT SEPARATES YOU AS AN ARTIST FROM THE OTHERS?
Man, I believe what separates me is my drive and passion! I’m literally in the studio everyday trying to be better than I was the day before. From my production, lyrics, and vocals, whether I’m rapping or singing. I just have to get better and make great music for people who appreciate good music. Eespecially R&B.
Q: YOU RELEASED YOUR FIRST PROJECT “H-TINE” ON DECEMBER 18, 2014. HERE WE ARE, NEARLY EIGHT YEARS LATER AND YOU HAVE RELEASED NUMEROUS CLASSICS. AS AN ARTIST, HOW WELL HAS THE GROWTH FROM THEN AND NOW ATTRIBUTED TO YOUR CRAFT?
My growth has helped me tremendously; because now, my voice has matured for the grown and sexy - and I have a young core audience as well so it doubles my supporters! And the music just gets better and better. As time goes, your craft continues to get polished until you master it. I feel like I’ve reached a peak until my level comes then I’ll get to a higher peak.
Q: YOU RECENTLY INTRODUCED YOUR KIDS TO THE WORLD WITH ‘THE REEVES FAMILY’ YOUTUBE CHANNEL. HOW HAS THAT JOURNEY BEEN SO FAR AND HOW EXCITED ARE YOU FOR IT TO CONTINUE?
Man it’s been amazing watching thier talents flourish and seeing their different personalities and just watching them create! They’re so engaged with the YouTube works that they’re giving me the ideas on certain things and I’m just happy to be doing something as a family.
Q: 2016 SUPREME. ECHELON. RECORDS. YOU AND YOUR BROTHER/LABEL MATE, CASH WEST DEBUTED ‘TOUCHDOWN’ AND FOLLOWED UP WITH ‘FUCC SOMETHING’. HAD US IN A CHOKEHOLD. IS THERE ANYTHING WE CAN EXPECT FROM THE S.E.R. CAMP IN THE NEAR FUTURE?
Oh most definitely! Right now! We just finished our 2nd album and it’s going to be way better than the first in my opinion! We have all type of records on this one; Rap, R&B, and EDM. Just a bunch of great music coming together. So yeah, Supreme has a lot of things coming 2023.

Q: AS AN ARTIST, YOU HAVE BASED YOUR MORAL COMPASS ON THE MANNER OF SUBSTANCE AND THE QUALITY OF MUSIC. HAS THE THOUGHT OF VENTURING AWAY FROM THAT EVER CROSSED YOUR MIND?
Yes I have; but then, the music just doesn’t feel authentic anymore. It doesn’t feel like it’s you and all my music is from me and my experiences and life. With the music I’m able to tell the story that hopefully someone can relate to/with.
Q: SURELY YOU’VE BEEN ASKED THIS QUESTION ALOT. BUT WHY MUSIC? THE HEIGHT, THE SKILLSET, YOU COULD’VE DEFINITELY WENT PRO SOMEWHERE. WHAT MADE MUSIC SO SPECIAL FOR YOU?
Man, this is tough because I actually chose basketball, but in my Jr. year, I got my leg snapped in half and it put a big fork in the road for basketball... Basically forcing to take 1 and a half years off in the peak of my college career. Had a shot in 2015, but child support wouldn’t allow me to get a passport! I only owed 2100$ so that’s what made me fall back to music because it was always either one.
Q: THE STATE OF R&B HAS BEEN IN QUESTION AND FLUX FOR YEARS. AS A HAND REMOLDING THE CRAFT, DO YOU CONSIDER THE GENRE DETERIORATING OR WOULD YOU SAY ITS JUST BEEN STAGNANT?
It’s definitely deteriorating and allot of levels as what they promote as R&B really isn’t traditional R&B! Everybody is using auto tune and truly have no real substance behind the music. But I’ll be doing my best to bring it back and find that balance between traditional and new school.
Q: PROJECTS. SINGLES. PERFORMANCES. MUSIC VIDEOS. YOU’VE DONE IT ALL! WE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHATS NEXT FOR MIKE REEVES AS A SINGER?
What’s next for me is to put out a couple more projects. Then I’ll be running my own R&B label and shining the light on new R&B acts and trying to spread more love and joy around the world! And maybe a lil acting as well. But yeah, I’ll be finding talent, producing, and writing for others.
